Tiger Woods, who missed this week's US PGA event with what he called a minor left knee injury, announced Friday that he will take part in next week's Players Championship.
Woods, a 14-time major champion chasing the all-time record 18 major titles won by Jack Nicklaus, won the Players crown 10 years ago but has finished well back most years. He withdrew from last year's Players tournament.
"Looking forward to the competition next week, just committed to the Players," Woods posted Friday on his Twitter micro-blogging website.
Last week, former world number one Woods revealed he suffered a sprained left knee ligament and strained left Achilles tendon while playing at the Masters last month.
That kept him out of the $6.5 million Wells Fargo Championship this week
